ANALYZING INFLUENTIAL FACTORS IN MOTHER’S BEHAVIOR OF GIVING COMPLEMENTARY FOOD OF BREASTFED ON POSYANDU MAWAR I KARANGREJO

    Complementary food of breastfed refers to nutritition which is given to children aged 6–24 months in order to complete their nutrient needs. Complementary feeding of breastfed is very influenced by mother’s behavior. Giving complementary feeding of breastfed before infant is 6 months results negative impacts to their health such as diarrhea and even death. The purpose of this research was to analyze influential factors in mother’s behavior of giving complementary food of breastfed on Posyandu Mawar I Karangrejo. 

      The research’s design was correlational. The population was mothers who had infants in age 6 –36 months in Posyandu Mawar I Karangrejo’s Village. Using Random Sampling Technique, it was obtained 32 respondents as sample. The independent variable was influential factors in mother’s behavior of giving complementary food of breastfed such as mother’s knowledge, mother’s occupation, and family’s social economy. The dependent variable was giving complementary food of breastfed. The data were collected using quesitonare and interview. Those were analized using Double Logistic Regresion with significance level 0.025.

           The occupation statistic result showed p= 0.999 meaning that mother’s occupation did not influence mother’s behavior in giving complementary food of breastfed. The social economy statistic result showed p= 0.999 meaning social economy had no influences to mother’s behavior in complementary food of breastfed. Further, mother’s knowledge statistic result showed p= 0.020 meaning mother’s knowledge influenced mother’s behavior in giving complementary food of breastfed. 

        In conclusion, occupation and social economy had no influence giving complementary food of breastfed, but mother’s knowledge influenced toward giving complementary food of breastfed in Posyandu Mawar I .Karangrejo
